Kyle James (00:01.294) Hey, welcome to the AI Chronicles. I'm your host, Kyle James. And today we're going to be discussing how a non-clinical staffing and recruiting company called the Dintel Group is using AI inside of their own business. And we'll share the exact steps that you can take in order to implement AI for yourself. Now, before we talk about that, listen closely. Are you looking to implement AI inside of your own company or maybe just struggling to get your AI to stop hallucinating? Speak to GPT trainer. GPT trainer literally builds out and manages your AI for you, eliminating hallucinations for good. Go to gpt-trainer.com. I promise you, it'll be the biggest time saving decision that you've made all year. Trying to set up AI on your own is like trying to build a house from scratch. Sure, you could do it, but the time of frustration is going to take you to get it finished. It may not be worth it. It's a thousand times faster and safer to hire professionals. Schedule a consultation today. Once again, that's gpt-trainer.com. Today I have with me Alison Norris, who is an award-winning recruiter in the dental industry and the founder of the Dental Group. After leaving clinical dentistry, Alison built one of the most respected recruiting agencies in the industry. Her team has helped companies scale smarter and professionals pivot with purpose. Really excited for the conversation today. Welcome to the show, Alison. How are you doing? Allison Norris (01:23.729) I'm good. How are you? Kyle James (01:25.518) I'm doing fantastic. Thank you so much for asking. So tell us a little bit. I mean, you've been in the recruiting agency for, for quite some time, a little bit of dental experience. How did the dentale group come to be? Like give us some background, origin story with that. Allison Norris (01:37.736) Sure, sure. I was a hygienist from 2007 until 2018. And I left hygiene, started working at this dental billing company, helped build their consulting division, left there, started working at this orthodontic tech startup company, this aligner company. And they kind of screwed me over, just like startups sometimes do. And so... I went through about three months of just like trying to figure out what I wanted to do, really depressed, you know, that kind of thing. And so I had a database and I said, you know, how can I utilize this database in a way that's mutually beneficial for myself and someone else? And so I thought, I can be a matchmaker, can be a recruiter. And so on a whim, I started the Dentale Group and it's been very rewarding. It's a non-clinical agency. with post-COVID, all these clinicians were wanting to leave clinical. And so it just got in at the right time, I guess, and coined the term non-clinical careers. So pretty cool. Yeah. Kyle James (02:54.7) Yeah. Yeah. So I love that. I think it's cool going from one transition to the next, and then all of sudden straight into the recruiting space and, definitely a bold move. And obviously it's been working well for you. So at the Dintel group, you're, you're using AI, to some degree. And tell me like, what, why did you decide to start using AI in the first place and what specific challenges were you trying to solve with, with the AI? Allison Norris (03:19.664) So recruiting is very, very time consuming. It's very messy. You have several steps that you have to go through. so when I was actually on one of my ATSs that I was trying at the time, because being ADHD, I try all the software. So this is one of them. And I started noticing AI. Kyle James (03:44.937) Yeah Allison Norris (03:49.52) and have it little planted every now and again throughout the software. And I started noticing, well, this is pretty cool because it's matching which candidates are going to be the best quality. And so I started digging more into it and realized that there's so many ways that AI can be used in recruiting. So yeah. It's pretty awesome. Kyle James (04:19.298) Yeah. So when you said like it matches it, tell me a little bit about that. Like, what do mean it matches it? Like exactly. Allison Norris (04:27.464) So it's a one-to-one matching algorithm, essentially. So it takes the candidate's profile. it'll, like any time you upload a resume into an ATS or an applicant tracking system, it redacts the information, or I'm sorry, it parses the information. And so that information is parsed from the resume. And then it essentially will... Kyle James (04:42.68) Mm-hmm. Allison Norris (04:53.83) The AI will essentially take that information and match it on a one to one, you know, like keyword ratio or not ratio, but one to one keyword matching to pull the candidates that fit the job description, essentially. Kyle James (05:09.23) Okay. And before though, like what, before the AI came out, it was just like a manual scrolling through some of the resumes, looking for key words. guess like, so like, I guess it was that, how big of a transition was that period from, you know, manual process to, okay, let's, let's use this AI to do this one for one. Allison Norris (05:26.376) So definitely cuts down some time. It definitely does. Now I will say that there are some times where, especially in the dental industry specifically, where the keywords just aren't there. And so there's some times when I wish that the A... the AI wasn't just a one-to-one matching. I wish that it could be a little bit more intuitive into figuring out an ideal candidate profile, essentially. And so that's kind of what I've been developing an app to. And so that's kind of part of that. But yeah. Kyle James (06:08.622) Yeah. So tell us, tell us about that. You know, the app is a big, that's a big step. you know, seeing the value and AI side. So walk it like, walk us through a little bit on the app side. Like what exactly is this app being built for? Who's it going to be for? Like, give us some details on that. Allison Norris (06:13.349) Uh-huh. Allison Norris (06:22.97) So right now I'm building it strictly for the dental industry because that's where my network is. So it's essentially combining every single tool that a hiring manager or a recruiter would need and placing it all into one place. And so our target market is going to be dental practices and these dental support organizations. So like the large corporate. dental practices. And so it's kind of like for them having a recruiter in their back pocket. And so every single step of the recruiting process that we go through happens within the app. So all the way from, I don't want to give away too much information, but every single step that happens, it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool. Kyle James (07:12.916) Yeah, of course, of course. Kyle James (07:19.085) Yeah. Allison Norris (07:19.88) It has automated, or not automated, but generated job postings or job descriptions. It has a matching algorithm. has full automations. I mean, it's fully automated. And it makes it completely seamless, the process completely seamless. So it's pretty great. Kyle James (07:46.028) Yeah. Yeah. So like when you decided, because building an app is definitely a big, it's a big step, you know, with time, have dev dev team that builds it out for you. Like what was it that kind of sparked your interest to go, okay, I'm going to start building this app versus maybe just building like a workflow. And in the mix of that transition period, like was, was like AI, like kind of like, you know what? Maybe we should throw in some AI into this because we have seen the value on our side using some of the AI tools. Allison Norris (07:51.4) Thank Kyle James (08:15.246) Paint a picture for me on that. Allison Norris (08:15.976) Yeah. So I had a recruiter that was working for me at the time. And she said, you know, one day she came to me and she was like, hey, have you ever thought about building an app? And I was like, well, yeah, you know, and she's like, well, my brother builds apps. And I said, really? I said, well, I have this whole process like mapped out of what I think would be cool to do. And in the beginning, I had two co-founders at the time. I won't get into that, but in the beginning, was kind of just very, there was like a step-by-step process. I took my workflow and I kind of broke it down, right? And then I started realizing, well, if we had AI to do this, then it would make it even better. It would make it even more automated. It would make it even more faster and have the ability to get these candidates placed and these companies that are hiring get them candidates faster. so that's what we did because pretty much anything that you can, if you can train AI to do something, it'll do it for you, right? So whenever we get a lead on a candidate. As a recruiter, whenever we get a lead on a candidate, we immediately want to give them a call on the phone or send out an email. Well, you can automate that. You can get somebody, you can get an AI to do that for you. So just little things like that. Kyle James (09:59.862) Yeah. So if I may ask, what's the app going to be, or can you share the name of the app? Like when it does come into production or is that still, what is it? Allison Norris (10:05.81) Cakewalk. Yeah, cakewalk. Kyle James (10:10.03) Cakewalk. I like it. Cakewalk. Okay. Allison Norris (10:11.494) Yeah, because we make hiring easy. Kyle James (10:16.802) Ooh, man. Y'all should like partner with a local cake caking business too. Just like, you know, sponsor like cake walk. We do recruiting, but on the side we do cakes too. No, that's cool. I like that. The simplicity of it. I love it. Allison Norris (10:19.814) was pretty cool. Allison Norris (10:27.336) Yeah, I've been working with a new developer and somebody that I'm partnering with too. And he's saying that we may want to think about kind of changing the name or something for SEO purposes. And I'm like, no, I love Cakewalk. Kyle James (10:47.534) I'm glued. like the cake walk as it a good, it's a unique name. like it. Cool. I love that. So for, know, for those listening and, know, obviously there's a lot, you know, changing in the AI space and you're working on building an app cake walk and, what do you foresee? Maybe you tell like kind of upcoming AI initiatives over the next couple of years. And what do you see maybe AI playing some of biggest role in both like your app and then maybe even also in your operations next. Allison Norris (10:51.336) Yeah. Thank you. Allison Norris (11:18.376) Um, you know, I, uh, I think that, uh, it would be wonderful. Like I had mentioned in the beginning, uh, there's that one to one, one to one matching, you know, um, it would be wonderful if there was a way to, for, for companies to be able to, um, uh, create a profile, right? Create like a candidate profile. They're ideal, you know, and, and AI be able to. to find that person. And I'm not exactly sure how it would work to be completely honest with you. I was told I needed a machine learning engineer in order to figure this out. But yeah, I'm the idea person. And so I would love for AI to be able, I would love to replicate myself. Kyle James (12:15.15) Yeah, make a clone. We looking for the clone someone who can do like the dishes and laundry. I'm like, I've been looking for that. I'm waiting for Yeah, no, that's cool. I think I mean the recruiting space It's like it's so it's so intricate and there's so many steps But I guess also simple and I think a lot of times like, you know in Canada or business are looking for the right candidate Like it's not like even if they have the perfect resume sometimes they're not always a perfect fit But then those who are the perfect fit they may not have Allison Norris (12:17.682) Yes. Yeah. Right. Kyle James (12:43.534) You know, the most up-to-date resume. so like, you've got to like find those details by these people and then also understand that can't, know, the, the client side, like, Hey, what exactly are you looking for? Sometimes they don't, they don't always know, but like they can, you know, from this, it's like, they had the one-to-one matching build that candidate profile out. Now it's like, okay, this is exactly what we're looking for. Okay, perfect. This is a good fit. Let's get them in for an interview and get them in the process. So I love it. Allison Norris (13:07.206) Yeah, absolutely. You said it. Kyle James (13:10.894) Yeah, I actually come, I used to be a recruiter just for like about a year or so. So I know like a little bit on the, on the recruiting candidate side of things. So, um, lot of fun, like getting people to, you know, find people new jobs and stuff. You know mean? Getting from one position to another and then vice versa to helping businesses. So that's another story for another time, but Hey, and then Alison, as you wrap the conversation up today, appreciate you being on the show and where can people learn a little bit more about you and then more about the dentelle group that you would advise them going to. Allison Norris (13:25.512) Yeah. Allison Norris (13:39.59) So I'm always on LinkedIn. As a recruiter, we're always on LinkedIn. You can just search my name, Allison Norris with the Dintel Group. And then my website is thedintelgroup.com. they can reach out there. I can't guarantee that I always respond to the chat or that my team responds to the chat. That's what I need to get. I need to get a chat bot for my website. That's super simple. But yeah. Kyle James (14:06.52) Yeah. Cool. Awesome. Love it so much. Thanks everybody for listening in. And again, if you're looking to implement AI into your business today, please don't try and do it yourself. The time and stress the AI could cause, it may not be worth it. Schedule a call with GPT trainer and let them build out and manage your AI for you. Go to gpt-trainer.com to schedule your consultation. Signing off for now. Thanks again, Allison. It was awesome having you on the show today. And thanks again, everybody for listening in. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the next episode of the AI Chronicles.
